USO of North Carolina, USAA present Salute to Freedom Concert starring Maggie Rose

Patriotic, free to public concert to feature USO Show Troupe, Maggie Rose and celebrate those who serve

Aug. 27, 2018 - The USO of North Carolina and USAA will host a Salute to Freedom Concert starring Maggie Rose and the USO Show Troupe September 5, 2018. The concert will begin immediately after the 6:00 p.m. Marine Week Opening Ceremony at First Ward Park and is free to the public.

Performances by Maggie Rose and the USO Show Troupe will serve as an opportunity for the Charlotte community to celebrate those who serve, enjoy music and learn about how they can join the USO of North Carolina in strengthening America’s military service members.

Maggie Rose is a soul songstress from Nashville, TN, whose music melds a blend of Rock, Soul, Rhythm and Blues, Country and Gospel. In 2018 Rose played more than 150 dates across the world and shared the stage with artists such as Kelly Clarkson, Julia Michaels, the Grateful Dead among others.

The USO Show Troupe performs a broad repertoire of music including patriotic, big band, 50’s, 60’s, Motown, country and more. The USO Show Troupe travels across the country, and even the world performing for more than 300,000 service members and their families annually.

The Salute to Freedom concert is part of a larger USO of North Carolina effort, made possible with support from partners like USAA, to support service members and military families that will be in town for the Marine themed festivities September 5-9. Throughout the week, the USO of North Carolina mobile center will operate as it did during recent hurricane-response support to National Guard activated in North  Carolina and Florida. Additionally, USO of  North Carolina volunteers will operate temporary centers supporting Marines throughout uptown Charlotte. The USO of North Carolina will also share information on its critical programs and services that are changing and even saving the lives of service members and their families.
