Tradition began on July 4, 1889 and has continued since that time. Ten thousand people will visit downtown Newton during Reunion Week. Reunion Day is Thursday, August 16, 2018, when events will begin around 9am with as vendors, craftsman, and local businesses set up downtown around the Square. A Memorial Service at 10am will honor veterans and members of patriotic organizations. The Official Reunion Ceremony will start at 4pm with the guest speaker delivering a keynote address. The Parade will start around 5pm. The Reunion week is sponsored by American Legion Post 16 and the Newton Merchants Association.
